Bike hotel

Looking for a bike hotel in Riccione?

If cycling is an important part of your holiday, a bike hotel could be the right choice to consider. This page explains what a bike hotel is, what it should offer you to deserve the name and why we have a particular point of view on the subject.

The basics

What a bike hotel is

A bike hotel is a hotel organised around the needs of people who love cycling and exploring the area on two wheels. In a good bike hotel you should find at least these things:

  1. 01

    A bike room

Secure, well-equipped storage for your bikes.

  2. 02

    Guided rides by level

Groups split by ability, so nobody gets left behind and nobody gets bored.

  3. 03

    Meals and hours for riders

A hearty breakfast and a kitchen that is open when you get back from the ride.

  4. 04

    Someone who knows the routes

A person who can tell you where to ride and which roads to choose.

  5. 05

    A programme for non-riders

Something good to do for the people travelling with you who don’t cycle.

Since 1997

Our point of view

Bike Hub grew out of the experience of Hotel Dory, which has been organising bike rides since 1997 and was the first bike hotel in Riccione.

The points in the list above are some of the ones the Dory has been working on over more than thirty years in business.

Hotel Dory

How a week at the Dory works

  • 5bike rides a week
  • 3walking excursions a week
  • 2weeks of calendar, no repeats
  • 5difficulty levels for every ride
  • 6guided groups on peak days

On the bike

The weekly programme includes 5 bike rides and 3 walking excursions a week, on a two-week calendar that never repeats. Every bike ride is offered at 5 difficulty levels, and on peak days up to six guided groups set off on different routes: road, gravel and MTB, or the easy pace of the “Dolce Vita” rides.

When you arrive, the bike manager gives you a briefing on the routes. If you prefer to ride on your own, you can use the GPS tracks selected over the years.

For those who don’t ride

There is a parallel programme for non-riders: guided walks, visits to the villages, boat trips in the warmer months and cookery classes. The days fit together, and everyone meets again at the table for the tastings.

The rest of your stay

The rest is what you would expect from a family-run hotel in Romagna, with two extras that riders appreciate. The first is a 350-square-metre wellness area with sauna, Turkish bath and ice bath, which is good for your legs and not only for relaxing.

The second is the tastings of local products: olive oil, balsamic vinegar from the family’s own vinegar cellar and evenings with the sommelier. In Romagna, the table is part of the route.

Bike Hub

What if you’re staying somewhere else?

No problem. The hub was created as a point of reference for every cyclist passing through Riccione, wherever they are staying: our 200+ Scott rental bikes, the guided tours and the GPX tracks of our routes are available to everyone.

If you have already booked elsewhere, you can join a ride with a private guide organised by Bike Hub, or rent a bike and ride on your own: we’ll give you tips on the routes and the GPX tracks to follow.

If you’re still choosing where to stay and want to find out whether a bike hotel is right for you, take a look at the Hotel Dory bike programme or ask us in person: the hub and the hotel talk to each other every day.
