FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the Riccione cycle path

If you can't find the answer you're looking for, write to us: we reply the same day.

Ask your question

Is there a cycle path between Riccione and Cattolica?

Yes. You ride along the seafront through Misano Adriatico, which has redeveloped about four kilometres of coastline from the Riccione border to the Cattolica border, with a cycle path painted light blue. It isn't a single protected lane all the way: in places you ride on sections shared with pedestrians or on roads with limited traffic. From Riccione to Misano is about five kilometres, a quarter of an hour of easy riding.

What are the stages of the Ciclovia Adriatica?

The Ciclovia Adriatica is route BI-6 of Bicitalia, Italy's national cycle network, and links Trieste with Santa Maria di Leuca in Salento, crossing seven regions over about 1,300 kilometres on the reference route. It isn't a single continuous path: it alternates dedicated cycle lanes, quiet back roads and stretches along the Adriatic state road. The section through Riccione is the Romagna one, between Rimini and Cattolica, where the route enters the Marche.

How long is the Riccione cycle path?

You can ride the whole Riccione seafront in just a few kilometres, but the beauty of it is that you can extend the route as far as you like: north to Rimini, south to Misano and Cattolica. Between 15 and 25 kilometres is the typical distance for half a day, there and back, including stops.

Is the Riccione cycle path suitable for children?

Yes, and it's one of the main reasons we recommend it. The route is flat, with no climbs, and mostly separated from traffic. With young children it's best to stay on the section between Riccione and Misano, which is the most protected, and to set off early in the morning or late in the afternoon, when the seafront is less crowded.

Do I need a special bike for the Riccione cycle path?

No. The surface is tarmac or dedicated paving and there are no climbs, so any bike in good condition will do. If you want to be comfortable, a city bike is the simplest choice; if you're thinking of riding on to Rimini or into the hinterland without much effort, a touring e-bike is better.
