The bike
Scott Scale 920
A single mountain bike for rent in Riccione, but a well-chosen one: the Scott Scale 920 is a carbon cross country hardtail for riders who want efficiency on climbs and precision on natural surfaces.
Hardtail · cross country
Light and responsive, the Scott Scale 920 is the bike for riders who already know what they’re doing: it climbs without wasting energy, changes direction where you ask it to and stays predictable on natural surfaces. It also suits riders with a good foundation who want to raise the bar on gradually harder routes.
The HMF carbon frame combines lightness, stiffness and control. The 100 mm FOX fork soaks up bumps without stealing power, and the Shimano XT drivetrain handles steep ramps and fast sections with equal precision.

On the trails
What to expect from this bike
A hardtail mountain bike has suspension at the front but not at the back. It sounds like a compromise, and partly it is: but it’s also why it performs better than a full suspension bike on certain terrain.
What you gain
- Weightwithout a rear shock the bike is lighter, and on climbs you feel it with every pedal stroke;
- Direct powerwhat you put into the pedals reaches the ground straight away, with nothing lost;
- Responsivenessit changes direction when you ask it to, not a moment later;
- Efficiency over distanceon long stretches you use less energy, and the difference adds up.
What you give up
- Extreme descentswhere the ground hits hard, rear suspension does a job that’s missing here;
- Jumpsit’s not the right bike if you’re after airtime;
- Very rough groundon long rocky sections you pay in comfort and effort.
The Scott Scale 920 is at its best where agility and precision count: cross country, dirt climbs, white roads and singletrack. It’s a true trail bike, not an enduro bike.

An honest choice
Is the Scale 920 right for you?
A cross country mountain bike isn’t for everyone. We’d rather tell you upfront: if you have a different kind of ride in mind, we have the right bike and point you to it below.
It’s the right bike if…
- you want to explore the trails of San Bartolo Park and the Romagna hinterland;
- you’re after singletrack, woods and mixed surfaces, and you already know how to ride them;
- you ride cross country and want a light, responsive bike, not one built for hammering descents;
- you have a good foundation and want to step up on gradually harder routes;
- you’re a sporty family sticking to white roads and easy trails, avoiding technical sections.
Another bike may suit you better if…
- you’re staying on the seafront, cycle paths and tarmac: a city bike is more than enough there;
- you want to mix tarmac and light dirt without changing bikes: then go for a gravel bike;
- you want to climb with less effort: consider an e-bike;
- you’re looking for extreme descents, jumps or enduro: the Scale 920 is a cross country hardtail, and we don’t have a bike for that kind of riding in our fleet.
Where to go
Three places where Romagna goes off-road
The Riviera is more than seafront and cycle paths. A few kilometres from Riccione the hills, woods, white roads and trails begin, and the landscape changes completely: that’s where a mountain bike really comes into its own.
San Bartolo Park
Hills, woods and views over the Adriatic a short ride from Riccione. White roads, dirt tracks and natural trails let you put together rides of very different difficulty: a sporty outing or a gentle ride, depending on where you go.
- White roadsand natural trails
- Variablelevel, depending on the ride
- Woods and seaon the same route
Monte Carpegna
One of the most serious destinations in the Montefeltro: woods, long climbs and natural surfaces. It’s where the lightness of the Scott Scale 920 really shows, and it’s also the one that demands the strongest legs and the most skill.
- Natural surfacesand long climbs
- Demandingfor fit riders
- Montefeltrodense woodland
San Marino and the hinterland
Between Riccione and Mount Titano, back roads, climbs, dirt sections and viewpoints follow one another. You can plan a flowing day in nature or a tough ride with plenty of climbing and technical ground: a lot depends on the terrain and the weather.
- Mixedback roads and dirt
- Your choiceflowing or technical
- Viewsover Mount Titano
On natural surfaces, conditions change with the season and the rain: before you set off, check the state of the trails and whether they’re open. If you drop into our shop in Riccione, we’ll tell you how they were the last time we rode there.

Frequently asked questions about mountain bike rental
If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for, write to us: we reply the same day.
Ask your questionCan I rent the mountain bike for just one day?
Yes, rentals start from one day. There’s only one Scale 920, though: at weekends and in peak periods it goes quickly, so it’s better to book than to turn up and hope.
Is it suitable for a beginner?
It’s a cross country MTB, designed for riders who already have some experience. With an intermediate level you can ride it very well on easy routes, such as the white roads of San Bartolo. If you’ve never ridden a trail before, avoid technical descents and very rough ground: tell us your level and we’ll tell you where to go.
What’s the difference between a hardtail and a full suspension bike?
A hardtail has suspension at the front but not at the back, so it’s lighter and more efficient on climbs: it’s the right choice for cross country and white roads. A full suspension bike also has rear suspension and works better on technical descents and very rough terrain.
How do I choose the size?
You don’t have to choose it alone. The Scale 920 comes in sizes S, M and L, and the right one depends on your height, proportions and riding experience. Tell us and we’ll work it out together, then set the saddle before you leave.
Is the bike checked before the rental?
Yes, before every ride: brakes, drivetrain, fork, tyres and the main components. On an MTB, checking the fork and the tyre pressures matters more than anywhere else, because on natural surfaces they make the difference between riding the bike and being ridden by it.
