The category

Half road bike, half off-roader

The four Scott gravel bikes you can rent are not watered-down compromises: they take from each world what you need for a day that starts on tarmac and ends on a white road.

From the road bike

  • The drop handlebarmore hand positions, which after three hours in the saddle is no small thing;
  • The rolling speedit holds a proper pace on tarmac instead of plodding along like a trekking bike;
  • The low weightyou feel it on climbs, and it’s why road cyclists choose it.

From off-road riding

  • The wide tyrescomfort, grip and safety where the surface is uneven;
  • The less extreme geometryyou sit higher, see better and take rough ground calmly;
  • The stabilityon white roads you don’t have to correct your line at every pothole.

That’s exactly what you need around Riccione, where a single ride takes in tarmac, back roads, cycle paths, dirt tracks and white roads. On any other bike, at some point, you’d have to turn back.

The service

With four models, the choice matters

Frame, components, assistance and intended use all differ. Picking the wrong model won’t ruin your day, but it will make it less enjoyable than it could have been.

  • Non-electric or electric

    It’s the first question and the most important one. It depends on how much climbing you have in mind and how much you usually ride: two minutes’ chat and it’s sorted.

  • The model for your level

    We help you choose which gravel bike best suits your level and your experience as a cyclist.

  • The right size

    On a gravel bike the size counts twice as much, because you spend hours on it over surfaces that don’t forgive a sloppy position.

  • Saddle set up in the shop

    Two minutes before you leave, not twenty kilometres later when you notice something isn’t right.

  • The bike for the right route

    Tell us where you want to go and we’ll choose accordingly: the white roads of the Montefeltro and the coastal cycle paths don’t call for the same bike.

  • Book before you arrive

    We only have a few of each model: write to us before you leave for Riccione and we’ll hold the one you need.

Before every rental we check the main components and set up your position. On the electric models we also check the motor and the battery. Every Scott leaves our shop in Riccione ready to ride.

An honest choice

Is a gravel bike right for you?

We’d rather tell you upfront: if you have a different kind of ride in mind, we have the right bike and point you to it below.

It’s the right bike if…

  • you’re a road cyclist and want to try dirt roads without giving up speed;
  • you want one bike for tarmac and white roads, with no need to choose before you set off;
  • you want to explore the Romagna hinterland on quiet routes;
  • you prefer a more comfortable, stable position than on a road bike;
  • you’re on holiday in Riccione and have been wanting to try gravel for a while;
  • you’re aiming for long distances and need the help of an e-gravel bike.

Another bike may suit you better if…

  • you want high cadence and top speed on tarmac: then go for a road bike;
  • you have technical singletrack, jumps or steep descents in mind: for those you need a mountain bike;
  • you’re staying on the seafront and cycle paths: a city bike is more than enough;
  • you want to sit upright in maximum comfort: then an e-touring bike.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about gravel bike rental

If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for, write to us: we reply the same day.

Ask your question

Can I rent a gravel bike for just one day?

Yes, all four models can be rented for a single day, subject to availability. At weekends and in high season it’s worth booking ahead: we only have a few of each model.

What’s the difference between a gravel bike and a road bike?

A gravel bike has a more comfortable geometry and wider tyres, which give stability and grip where the surface is uneven. On tarmac it’s only slightly slower than a road bike, but in return it takes you where a road bike would make you turn back.

Is a non-electric or an electric gravel bike better?

It depends on three things: the route, the climbing and how much you usually ride. The non-electric bike is the choice for a sporty ride; the e-gravel is for riders who want to tackle climbs and long distances and still have something left at the end. Tell us about your ride and we’ll sort it out in two minutes.

Is it suitable if I’ve never ridden on dirt roads?

Yes, as long as you start with white roads and easy routes. The Scott Speedster Gravel is the best one to begin with: an aluminium frame, wide tyres and forgiving handling. We’ll tell you where to start.
